Why “Universal Fit” Doesn’t Exist — and Why It Matters

Most covers are sold as one size. Most rims are not one size. The gap between those two facts is this whole article.

Diameter varies. Thickness varies more

Two vehicles with the same rim diameter can have very different grip circumferences.

A cover sized for the thin one sits slack on the thick one, and vice versa.

A slack cover creeps

Under a firm turn, tension alone stops holding.

That is the point at which a cover should come off the wheel, not be tolerated.

Laced covers remove the question

Stitched to the rim, rotation is not physically available.

It takes minutes to fit and never needs thinking about again.

Two fitting rules worth passing on

If it can rotate or creep, take it off.

It must never overlap or obstruct a control or a stalk. Anything about airbags or safety systems is a question for the vehicle manufacturer, not for us.
