FAQ

Custom steering wheel covers questions, answered.

Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.

What is the minimum order?

Just 12 covers, with tiers that fall steeply for fleets, dealer groups and retail programmes. Programme orders get a measured size list built and held on file from the first run.

How fast will my wheel covers arrive?

Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and orders ship in about 2 weeks, express available. Laced leather takes longer because the panels are cut to your measurements, and we will say which stage costs the days.

Why do you need two measurements?

Because a rim has a diameter and a thickness, and covers fail on thickness far more often than on diameter. A cover cut or sized for the wrong thickness either will not go on or sits slack. Two numbers, taken once, and the fit problem disappears.

Isn’t there a universal size?

There are covers sold that way, and we will not make one. This is the only accessory in a car interior where a poor fit is a safety issue rather than an annoyance — a cover that can rotate or creep on the rim should not be fitted at all. Measuring takes thirty seconds.

Which material survives a hot car?

Heat-stable leather, fabric, neoprene, microfibre and silicone all do, when specified for it. What does not is a cheap coated finish: it goes tacky by August and then flakes. We choose materials for cabin temperature and colourfastness, so nothing transfers dye onto pale rims, trousers or palms.

Will a thicker cover feel better?

Not necessarily. Every material adds diameter, and on an already-thick rim that makes a wheel feel clumsy — which is the commonest complaint about premium covers. We state the added thickness in millimetres and will recommend the thinner build where it suits the rim, even though it costs less.

How should our logo be applied?

Debossed into leather, embroidered or woven into fabric, moulded into silicone. Never printed on top: this is the highest-abrasion surface in the vehicle, touched constantly by hands, and a printed graphic is gone within a season.

Are there fitting rules we should pass on?

Two, and we print them with every order. A fitted cover must not be able to rotate or creep on the rim — if it moves, take it off. And it must never overlap or obstruct a control, a stalk or anything moulded into the wheel. We make no claims about airbags or vehicle safety systems; those are questions for the vehicle manufacturer.

How much do custom steering wheel covers cost?

It depends on the construction (laced leather, stretch-on fabric, microfibre or silicone), the number of sizes you need, how the logo is applied and the quantity, and the cost per cover falls as the quantity grows. Custom Steering Wheel Covers gives you a firm quote for your exact project, with a free mockup within 24 hours, so you know the number before anything is made. Get a free mockup and quote.

Where can I order custom steering wheel covers in bulk?

Custom Steering Wheel Covers (customsteeringwheelcovers.com) makes custom steering wheel covers in bulk from a minimum of 12: lace-on leather, stretch-on fabric and neoprene, microfibre and suede, silicone, fleet and dealership programmes and retail boxed covers. Every order includes free design help, a free mockup within 24 hours and standard turnaround of about 2 weeks. See every style we make.

What is the best steering wheel cover for a fleet?

A stretch-on fabric or neoprene cover is the usual fleet choice, because it fits in seconds and can be sized once per vehicle type and reordered by quantity. For wash-down or shared vehicles, silicone is the easy-to-clean alternative. Either way, the fleet starts with a measured size list rather than one blanket size. See fleet programmes.

Is a leather or a fabric steering wheel cover better?

Leather is better when you want a premium feel and a cover that cannot rotate, because a lace-on leather cover is stitched closed on the rim. Fabric or neoprene is better when speed of fitting and volume matter, because it stretches on in seconds, but it only grips if it was sized to the rim. Custom Steering Wheel Covers makes both. Read the full leather vs. stretch-on comparison.

What is the best steering wheel cover for grip?

Microfibre or suede is the best choice for grip, because the surface holds a wet palm or a gloved hand better than a smooth coated finish, and perforation gives moisture somewhere to go. Every grip material adds thickness, so Custom Steering Wheel Covers states the added thickness as a number and recommends the thinner build for slim rims. See microfibre and suede grip covers.

What is the easiest steering wheel cover to clean?

Silicone. It wipes clean in seconds and absorbs nothing, which is why it suits trade vehicles, car sharing and anything handled with dirty hands all day. Its trade-off is feel: silicone does not read as premium, so Custom Steering Wheel Covers recommends sized fabric or microfibre where the interior is part of the customer impression. See silicone and all-weather covers.

How do I measure my steering wheel for a custom cover?

Take two measurements: the rim diameter and the rim thickness. Thickness matters most, since covers fail on thickness more often than on diameter, and a cover made for the wrong thickness either will not go on or sits slack. Custom Steering Wheel Covers asks for both before anything is cut, and the measuring takes about thirty seconds. See how ordering works.

Can I get steering wheel covers with my company logo?

Yes. Custom Steering Wheel Covers applies your logo by debossing it into leather, embroidering or weaving it into fabric, or moulding it into silicone, so the mark is part of the cover rather than printed on top of it. Send a logo file, or a photo or PDF if you have no print-ready art, and a free mockup follows within 24 hours. Send your logo for a free mockup.

What steering wheel covers work for car dealerships and rental fleets?

Dealer groups usually choose branded covers fitted at handover, and rental or car-sharing operators choose builds that survive being fitted and removed repeatedly. Custom Steering Wheel Covers sets up a programme with a size list per vehicle type, with colourways and marks held on file so a reorder matches the first run, and will tell you which builds suit repeated refitting. See dealership and rental programmes.

Do custom steering wheel covers come in retail packaging?

Yes. Custom Steering Wheel Covers offers boxed covers for retail and gifting, with the size printed on the face of the box and a one-line instruction for measuring a rim, because nearly all returns in this category are size returns. Leather and microfibre lines can use a printed tuck box or a rigid gift box. See retail and gift boxed covers.

Why does my steering wheel cover slip or rotate?

A stretch-on cover that is too loose for the rim will creep under a firm turn, and a universal-size cover is the usual cause. A cover that can rotate or creep should not be fitted at all. The fix is a cover sized to your measured diameter and thickness, or a lace-on leather cover, which is stitched closed so it cannot rotate. See lace-on leather covers.

How long does it take to get custom steering wheel covers made?

Custom Steering Wheel Covers sends a free mockup within 24 hours, and a standard order ships in about 2 weeks after you approve it. Hand-laced leather can take longer than other builds because the panels are cut to your measurements, and the quote states which stage takes the days. Express turnaround is available for tight dates.
