Lace-On Leather Wheel Covers

A lace-on cover is cut slightly undersize, wrapped around the rim and stitched closed with a lacing cord, which is why it is the only construction that removes rotation as a possibility rather than resisting it with tension.

It is also why it has to be measured properly: the panel is cut to your rim diameter and rim thickness, and a cover cut for the wrong thickness either will not close or laces up slack. Two numbers, taken before anything is cut.

The hide is specified for a car rather than for a showroom — heat-stable, colourfast, and finished so it does not transfer dye onto pale trousers or palms after a hot afternoon. Branding is debossed into the leather, because a printed mark on the most-touched surface in the car is gone by autumn.
